TechNation Webinar Wednesday: The HTM Field’s Longest-Running CE Webinar Series

Webinar Wednesday is the closest thing HTM has to a standing weekly classroom. Produced by MD Publishing (the company behind TechNation magazine and the MD Expo conferences), it has been running for roughly eight years and reaches an audience of more than 12,000 biomed and HTM professionals.

The pitch is simple: free, accessible continuing education on a regular schedule, so the field’s technicians and managers can keep their certifications current without travel budget or conference fees.

Why it matters for HTM

Continuing education credit is a real operational problem for department heads. ACI and CBET certifications require ongoing CEUs, and travel-based conferences are expensive and infrequent. A free weekly webinar that issues CE credit removes a budget line and a scheduling headache.

For a director, the value is twofold: it is a low-cost way to keep your bench staff certified and current, and the topic mix (clinical engineering practice, imaging service, test equipment, cybersecurity, vendor service models) tracks what your team actually deals with.

Who should tune in

This series is broader than just directors. It is built for the working biomed and imaging tech as much as the manager. If you run a department, the more useful move is to point your staff at it as a recurring CE resource and review the on-demand archive yourself for sessions that touch your purchasing or compliance decisions.

Format and cadence

Webinars have historically aired weekly at 2 p.m. Eastern. MD Publishing has also expanded into an on-demand archive, a “Tools of the Trade” live product-demo format, and podcasts. Note that some sessions are sponsored by vendors and function partly as product education; the editorial and CE-bearing sessions are the ones worth prioritizing.

Logistics

  • Format: Live weekly webinar series, plus on-demand archive and podcasts
  • Host: MD Publishing / TechNation
  • Cadence / next session: Historically weekly, 2 p.m. ET; see host page for the current calendar
  • Cost: Free (registration required)
  • Register: 1technation.com

Bottom line

Worth bookmarking for any HTM leader, mostly as a staff CE resource. The free weekly cadence and CE credit make it an easy win for keeping a bench certified, and the archive is a reasonable place to send new techs. Just be aware some sessions are vendor-sponsored product demos rather than vendor-neutral education, so steer your team toward the substantive ones.
